Tutorial on Google's Web Apps for the iPhone

I found this interesting review of the latest Google Web Tools for the iPhone

What makes it so great is that there is a menu at the top that links to all the other apps. It also seems to pre-cache your other apps so when search it’s searching images


in the background and they are ready right away when you tap images. Here’s a list of the apps: Google search, image search, local search, news, Gmail, Calendar, Reader, GOOG-411, SMS, Picasa Photos, Blogger, Notebook.

Users who point their iPhone Safari browser at www.google.com will see a different Google search page. The iPhone version has tabs at the top of the page that offer quick access to Gmail, Google's Calendar and Reader apps and another tab for more services, which include links to docs, Google's free 411 service Goog-411, Blogger and Picasa, Google's photo organizer.

It's a nice touch that puts you right into Google's world without having to bookmark sites. It works by leveraging browser technologies like AJAX, said Google. iPhone can still visit the classic site by clicking on a link on the page.
